Nature vs Finance — A theatrical economics showdown
Featuring Kate Raworth, author of Doughnut Economics, as your ringmaster for an unforgettable evening of economic rebellion, circus magic, and radical hope.
We are immersed in an era of great destruction to the living world, much of it fuelled by profound tensions between the intrinsic designs of nature and finance. Nature is cyclical, relational, and regenerative. Finance, as we know it, is linear, extractive, and accumulative. If we want to get into the Doughnut - to meet the needs of all people within the means of the living planet - what does this design clash mean? Will finance inevitably eat the Earth, or can it be redesigned at root to be in service to life itself?
Doughnut Economics Circus sets out the concepts at stake and invites the audience to join in the show, so together we find ways to turn this challenge around. Come to the circus ready to debate, juggle, listen and laugh.
About Kate Raworth: Kate Raworth is the brilliant mind behind Doughnut Economics, the groundbreaking framework that's reshaping how we think about prosperity in the 21st century. She's co-founder of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) and Senior Teaching Associate at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford.
But Kate doesn't just theorize — she performs economics. As the Ringmaster of Donut Economics Circus, she transforms complex economic concepts into accessible, engaging, and downright entertaining experiences that stick with audiences long after the show ends. Expect big ideas, bigger laughs, and a perspective on economics that will turn your assumptions upside down.
In the context of the Climate Week Zurich we are inviting businesses, civil society, city representatives, activists, artists, researchers, consultants, etc. to jointly rethink the economic system in a joyful and engaging manner.
